Not long ago, Volkswagen, still shrouded in the shadow of the emission door, threw out the "together 2025" strategy, indicating that electric vehicles would be the main product in the future, while some German experts and government officials believed that if Germany wanted to achieve the established environmental goals in 2030, it would have to ban the diesel locomotive at home. . For a time, the German who invented the car seemed to have condemned our favorite internal combustion engine to a "death sentence". Is the internal combustion engine really hopeless? Obviously, the Japanese are more stubborn than the Germans do not think so.

The 2025 plan of electric loading

The latest 2025 years are very hot, not only "China made 2025", "TOGETHER- Strategy 2025" of the public, and the parts giant of Japan (DENSO) has also recently released the development strategy named ECO VISION 2025. When it comes to how to improve the environmental level of vehicles, it says it will pass the technical effort to reduce the carbon dioxide emissions of the internal combustion engine to half of the 2012 level in 2025. How does the electric outfit prepare for this goal?

- improving combustion efficiency: ultra thin combustion

How to improve fuel efficiency? In a light way, the first thing is to completely burn out all the fuel injected every time, but this is just a good wish, in reality it is impossible to achieve, so people put forward the concept of thin combustion. The lean burn technology can improve the thermal efficiency of the internal combustion engine and reduce the emissions of harmful gases.

However, for the existing engine technology structure, the ultra thin combustion will bring a lot of problems, one of the more obvious problems is the difficulty of ignition. To this end, the electrical installation is developing the matching of the ignition technology, everyone for the spark plug should not be strange, and the electrical installation in the ignition technology also has a very strong technical strength. The responsible person said that the development of ultra lean combustion has been completed by more than a half, and I believe we hope to see the mass production of this technology in 2025.

- improving the efficiency of tail gas purification: improved catalytic converter

At present, there are two main factors that affect the efficiency and effectiveness of exhaust gas purification: the rate of exhaust gas passing through the catalyst and the temperature of the catalyst. In the electric installation, the structure design of the three element catalytic converter needs further improvement. The time of the tail gas in the catalyst contact is not equal or too fast, which will lead to the difficulty of improving the efficiency. In addition, when the vehicle has just started and the catalyst does not reach the best working temperature, it will also lead to poor treatment of harmful waste gas.

The electrical engineer optimizes the internal structure of the catalyst to control the flow velocity inside the tail gas, so that the tail gas and the catalyst have sufficient contact time and contact area. In the cold car, the electric installation hopes to preheat the catalyst by electric heating to make it reach the working temperature as soon as possible. Through these two methods, the purification efficiency of the tail gas can be effectively improved, and these technologies have already passed the test of the electric loading, and the satisfactory results have been achieved.

Energy regeneration: using tail gas heat energy

We all know that the exhaust temperature of the engine is usually at 500-600 degrees centigrade, and thus has very considerable thermal energy, but usually the energy is wasted with the emission of the exhaust. Denso is planning to add an electric heat conversion device to the rear end of the exhaust treatment system to convert heat into electricity. In addition, the Japanese with a large hole in the brain are also envisaged to develop a device for storing heat, which is used to "warm up" when the engine starts, so that the engine can quickly heat up to the working temperature.

TOYOTA: constantly challenging higher heat efficiency

The TOYOTA automatic car, which belongs to TOYOTA group and Denso, is also committed to improving the thermal efficiency of the internal combustion engine. The two sides will also have a lot of cooperation in this area. As a host plant, TOYOTA not only needs technology development, but also applies all kinds of technology structure to mass production vehicle products. At the same time, like electricity, TOYOTA also believes that the potential of the internal combustion engine is far from reaching the limit. It was not long before they announced the thermal efficiency that would challenge 50% of the gasoline engine, which was also the key to success, while TOYOTA was considering adding HCCI to the gasoline engine (homogeneous premixed compression ignition) technology, that is, ultra high pressure. A scaled gasoline engine compresses like a diesel engine.

Other Japanese brands

Similar to TOYOTA, Japan's other car brands also have an optimistic attitude towards improving the thermal efficiency of internal combustion engines. The highly personalized Mazda will try to reach 18:1 compression ratio and rarefied compression ignition technology on the second generation of blue sky gasoline engine to further improve the engine's combustion efficiency, and one of the representative works of the Honda restarting turbocharging route, the ten generation 1.5T engine, named L15B, has become a turbine once launched. The king of the thermal efficiency of a turbocharged gasoline engine.

Summary:

With regard to the future technology roadmap, the automobile enterprises at different ends of the earth have different views. This is a very normal thing. Whether it is to promote electric technology or to tap the potential of internal combustion engines, the aim is to make future transportation more environmentally friendly. Of course, the technological route of an enterprise is also closely related to its own interests. However, no matter how it can make the world better, is it not better to choose several options? Of course, I would prefer to vote for an internal combustion engine.
